I joined Professor Chirag Kharangate’s thermal-fluid research group in my first semester at Case Western Reserve University. My work brings together CFD, hands-on experiments, and mechanical design.

COMPUTATIONAL FLUID DYNAMICS

Learning what goes into a useful model.

I am using ANSYS Fluent for transient multiphase simulations and mesh-sensitivity studies. My developing workflow includes geometry, meshing, boundary conditions, solver setup, simulation execution, and post-processing.

Volume of Fluid models provide a way to explore interfaces and bubble behavior. I am also learning HPC and Slurm workflows for working with larger computational cases.

EXPERIMENTAL THERMAL-FLUID SYSTEMS

Working with the experiment itself.

I help with real flow-loop experiments and gain experience with pumps, flow-rate measurement, instrumentation, flow stabilization, and thermal measurements. The work provides a physical reference for the flow behavior I am learning to analyze.

These experiments inform how I approach model assumptions, measurement conditions, and the interpretation of flow behavior.

CAD & MECHANICAL DESIGN

Geometry that serves a measurement.

I contribute CAD and mechanical modifications for experimental fixtures and flow-loop hardware, including work on a fixture used in bubble-imaging measurements. I am developing my use of SolidWorks and ANSYS DesignModeler through those tasks.

My focus is understanding how the model and the experiment inform each other.
